In the last 25 years of my corporate life, I have traveled the world and engaged with thousands of people, one common trend I have found is many of us focus our actions on our financial net worth, I have learned over the years this contributes in actions towards the wrong goals. To get everything we need in life, we needed to focus not on our financial net worth but on our lifestyle net worth. The four pillars of lifestyle net worth that make for a good life are health (body, mind & spirit) happiness, love (family, friends, romance) wealth (financial). Happiness to me is having a reason to get up every morning and be fully engaged in life. For me my ultimate currency in life is happiness. I take the time to find what makes me happy to fulfill my life. Try it! Understand the things you enjoy doing and the people you enjoy being around with and then enrich your normal environment by doing more of those things with those people. Most of us spend over 50% of our time in our working environment, so your working environment plays an important part in your life and happiness. Today I have the privilege of working with corporations that values its people and I get to enjoy engaging with some fantastic people and teams and management teams that connects with its workforce. Remember “In life pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional”. Here is to your good life and a happy working and living environment.

Spring is here and Western Australia is set to blossom with its incredible wildflowers. I love the fresh smell and taste of spring in the air. We live in challenging times with changing environmental & health conditions effecting our way of life, living conditions, our households, friends and loved ones and mental health. I have decided to become a volunteer with the Australian Red Cross as an Emergency Preparedness Session Facilitator - RediPlan Community Educator. As a humanitarian organisation, the role of Red Cross in an emergency is to provide support to individuals and communities to reduce the impact and effects of a disaster. This includes assisting people to prepare for an emergency psychologically and practically. I want to support my community by sharing some of my own experience in emergencies, seeing the effects it has on people and communities when we are not informed and prepared for an emergency. I have learned many lessons through my life experience, and I want to help others by supporting them with practical knowledge to be prepared for an emergency to Think, Act and Share to Anticipate potential stress factors in an emergency, to Identify our potential reactions & thought process in an emergency and to consider how we Manage these in an emergency. Preparedness saves lives in an emergency and improves the recovery factors.
