People come into our lives for a reason, some may stay with us for a short time and some for a life time. It is not a matter of how long we are with them in this connection, what is more important is the quality of time we shared and what we learn from them in this time frame. There is always something we can learn from every connection that we could not have learned If they had not come into our life. Whatever energy we put out into the world we attract the same back into our lives and into the lives of people around us. Our lives are influenced by so much of what goes around us and the influence of others on us, if we have the mindset that it is not about how people treat us, it is more about how we react to it, that creates the emotions that follows and the effects it has on us and others, we will find it easier to deal with emotional turmoil and change. I recently met with a colleague of mine while travelling, his father was suffering from cancer and all the medical treatments were not helping much. We had a long chat one evening and we talked about all the things his dad enjoyed in life, all the things that brought him happiness, all the good he saw in himself and his dad. I then took him through a heart connect meditation and shared some experiences of my own. At end of the night he told me “You brought light into my darkness”, there is no reason to be angry, I am going to enjoy my time with my dad and spend time with my dad doing the things that brings him happiness. He then said, “I believe my dad will get well and will live a happy life, I have to raise my energy level of happiness to raise his energy level of happiness”. I looked into his eyes and told him “there was never any darkness, you just forgot to pull the curtains back to let the light in”.
